Meet Mikayla

I’ve spent years documenting the high-energy joy of wedding days, but as my own family grows and time seems to move faster, my heart has pulled me toward the quiet, intentional moments found within the four walls of my studio. I’ve realized that the "sacred" isn't just found in big celebrations—it’s in the everyday stages that slip through our fingers if we aren't careful.

I’m Mikayla—a seeker of honest light, a lover of a full living, and the creative lead at Gold House Studios.

When you walk into my studio, I want you to feel like you can finally put your shoulders down. The space is bright yet neutral, and filled with second-hand treasures that keep our footprint light and our energy "slow."

Whether we’re gabbing about your business goals like a pre-branding therapy session or letting your kids be exactly who they are—wiggles, laughs, and all—this is a place where we don’t rush. I’m fine with the ebbs and flows of a session; I’d rather engage a child until we find their real laugh than force a smile that isn't theirs.

While I love a beautiful color palette, I have a deep passion for the simplicity of black and white imagery. There is something so special about stripping away the noise of the world to showcase the true personality. My goal is to create images that feel timeless—the kind that grow more valuable to you with every passing year.

When I’m not at Dickson St., I’m likely navigating the beautiful, ever-changing stages of parenting. There is a specific kind of magic in life with a six-year-old; watching him grow is a constant, humbling reminder of why I’m so obsessed with the "now." I know firsthand how quickly these chapters turn, and it only reinforces my belief that the everyday moments are the ones worth holding onto.

I love being a part of of our Cambridge community. I am a dedicated member of my book club, and a lifelong traveller. Recently, I’ve even started learning French. It’s a bit of a challenge, but it’s my daily reminder that you’re never "too old" to start something new or to be a beginner at something beautiful.

On a typical day, you can usually find me with a hot tea in hand, probably daydreaming about my next home improvement project or starting up a new novel. But I also live for the contrast—I love a slow morning at home just as much as a cheeky cocktail out under the sunshine with my wonderful friends.

At the end of the day, I’m not here to give you a "perfect" or over-polished gallery. I’m here to help you hold onto the people you love exactly as they are right now. Because as life moves and we lose people we hold dear, these "everyday" images become the most sacred things we own.

I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU.

Love, M
